Topic NFPA 99 vs NFPA 110

Our presenter will be Randy Stoddard, who brings a strong background in healthcare electrical systems and emergency power. Randy serves on NFPA 99, Health Care Facilities Code,on the Technical Committee for Electrical Systems, and also serves on NEC Code-Making Panel 15. He is the Supervisor of Electricians at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, a Licensed Master Electrician, holds the Certified Hospital Emergency Power Professional credential, and serves as President of the Ben Franklin Chapter of IAEI.

The training topic will focus on NFPA 99 vs. NFPA 110 and how the two standards work together in healthcare facilities.

NFPA 99 will cover the healthcare side, including the Essential Electrical System, life safety, critical and equipment branches, patient care spaces, equipment suitability, separation and identification of emergency circuits, and common inspection issues.

NFPA 110 will focus more on the Emergency Power Supply System, including generators, transfer switches, controls, annunciation, emergency shutdown, acceptance testing, maintenance, exercising, and documentation.

This should be a very useful meeting for inspectors, contractors, engineers, facility personnel, and anyone working around healthcare electrical systems and emergency power.
